#3 Fashion Trend from the Streets of NY

After having a small taste of 60 degree weather earlier in the week followed by a light dusting of snow, people were not in colorful spirits. Instead, many opted for different tones of gray; gray coats specifically which, while a somber color, kept new yorkers looking cool and feeling warm.

This young women certainly knows how to diversify drab; covering herself with a loosely fitted gray cape. Not letting the weather get her down, gray heels in a different shade, elevate both her height and spirits, a gray knit hat completes the look, who knew there were that many shades of gray?

Pairing a structured gray peacoat with jeans and converse (gray of course) is the perfect combination of classic and contemporary.  The gray knitted hat, a staple for today, is the perfect cover. A splash of yellow t-shirt is the only hint of color in this ensemble and matches perfectly with the crosswalk.

This military coat from the 60's was a lighter gray that despite being one button short, was still fabulously fitted and perfect for picking up organic necessities at the Whole Foods in Chelsea. Gray new balance's were a nice casual touch to the elegant jacket.

A pleasant change from gray peacoat's and ponchos was this puffy piece. A staple for wicked winters, this puffy gray coat will keep anyone warm, especially with a fabulous pair of periwinkle gloves.

Texture seemed to have turned things around as this coat livened up the basic "blahness" of gray. With bits of black on top of a gray background, this coat was making the transformation from neutral to noticeable. Adding a pop of color with a blue scarf completed the look, an optimistic choice for such a glum day.

Standing out amongst a sea of gray coats was this faux-fur covering. A gray knitted hat however, stayed true to today's trend.

  3. You went around a lot of places! I also believe that the weather brought people back down to darker colors after all.. There are a lot of grays in what people are wearing on your post but I also see some browns and blacks matched nicely with grays. I guess hats are the musts, too, to keep people warm from the cold weather!
